Dozens of doctoral students are writing dissertations on Detroit and cities like it. These students span the social sciences and the professions: urban planning, sociology, architecture, history, political science, education, communications, anthropology, public health, and more. The Detroit School Series Colloquia provides an opportunity for students to get feedback from their peers and visiting experts on a piece of writing in progress: a research proposal, a dissertation chapter, or a draft of a journal article. The workshop also creates a space for early-career researchers to network with similarly interested peers from universities around the world who use Detroit as their field site.

Interested students should email detroitschool@umich.edu to join the mailing list. We welcome doctoral students from any university to attend and share their work.

We thank the Rackham Graduate School for their generous support.
